Self Disqualifying:

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the most Holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is His body and service house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to clear us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. - Hebrews 10:19-22

Self Defeating Thoughts:

From the scripture verse today, we can see, that confident expectancy before God is a major key to receiving from Him in prayer! However, most people's approach to God's throne of Grace, is to ask for help or favour weighted down by dozens of disqualifying thoughts.
For example:
- "I have sinned."
- "I am not good enough."
- "I have not done enough."
- "I have not been to church in weeks."
- "I have not been patient enough."
- "Other people get answers because they are better Christians", and the list goes on.

Self Condemnation:

In the midst of all this endless list of self-accusations and self-condemnations many believers give up on even making a request to God! They tell themselves that until they have clearly got their act together and become a little more 'deserving' person first, then they will not lay their request before God and ask for His help! Unfortunately for those who do manage to make it to God's throne they sneak in sheepishly, laden with guilt and an overwhelming sense of unworthiness!

So when their prayers prove to be ineffective, they are never quite surprised! But it is time to remember the truth. GOD LOVES YOU and if you will just believe and adhere to the truth and trust in and rely on Him, He will guard your heart!

Guard Your Heart:

In the encouragement verse in Proverbs 4v32, it says to: "Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues (forces) of life! "It means, it is vital to guard and protect your 'heart's confidence' because it is the key to your connection with God! The enemy will use all means to get your heart if left unguarded. When you have sinned, confess it (1 John 1:9) and count it as covered and paid for by the Lord of Jesus. Then mentally re-assert your legal standing as a righteous person before God!

Renew Your Mind:

It is also helpful to continually renew your mind to the wonderful truth about Christ's finished work on the Cross because through that work you qualify. In Christ, you qualify for bold, confident access, connection, favour, blessing and help in time of need.

Pray This Prayer:

Father, I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude that access to you is available to me and not linked to my own personal qualifications. I come to you today knowing that I enter in based on Jesus perfect qualifications! Please help me guard my heart against voices and spoken words that would move me back into thinking that I am not good enough to access your face and your hand of blessing in any way.
